There’s a place where the poets of Portugal still meet.
It goes by the name of Moura Encantada and is so called in honour of the ancient legend that says that, once upon a time, at the bottom of all the rivers and lakes of Portugal, lived enchanted Mouras,, who there guarded the secrets and treasures of the land.
More than a hotel or a refuge, Moura Encantada is an experience.
In the heart of Alentejo, near the village of Santa Clara-a-Velha, is a perfect example of an elegant combination: the joining of the best of nature with the best of our culture. We decided that we wanted to turn the legend into reality and, in the heart of Alentejo, in a place called Santa Clara-a-Velha, we created a unique environment where respect for nature is combined with the very best of Portuguese culture. In homage to our traditions and legends, we named it Moura Encantada.
To spend time in Moura Encantada means not only to have access to nature in all her richness, but also to be able fully to enjoy the oft-hidden treasures of Portuguese culture, from its gastronomy and wines to its music and literature.
Moura Encantada is much more than a hidden hotel or retreat – it can be an escape to a whole new experience and a thrilling plunge into the truly Portuguese.

Chamámos-lhe Moura Encantada em homenagem às nossas tradições e escolhemos um lugar cujo nome é Santa Clara-a-Velha como o seu mais perfeito refúgio.
